Another year. Another disappointing playoff run. I should really create a Dallas Cowboys tag for how often I use this space to talk about them. Whether it's Dak Prescott's broken ankle or them trying to win the NFC Least or losing due to awful clock management or scapegoating their kicker, I'm here writing about their fuck ups. And it looks like today will be no different.
The media hyped up the Cowboys being undefeated at home like they're unstoppable juggernauts. But they played flat for much of the game only making the score closer than it had any right to be when the Packers let up in the 4th quarter. Dak made costly mistakes while the propped-up defense was just nonexistent. Of course, there's people who feel they should dump Dak and Mike McCarthy (Big Mike is coming back) but when people say that, I always ask, who are you gonna get to replace them? What available QB out there is better than Dak?
USC QB Caleb Williams, LSU's Jayden Daniels and Washington's Michael Penix Jr will be off the board by the time Dallas makes their pick at 24th. As for the other QBs on this list, they probably wouldn't be interested in them considering they're not likely to take Dak's job next season. And I don't consider any of these free agents on this list to be particularly better than Dak either. Hell, Kirk Cousins and Baker Mayfield are more likely to resign as starters while Gardner Minshew, Mason Rudolph and Jake Browning will probably return as their teams' backup. Let's not forget, the reason why Dak got that huge contract was because his backups were so trash, they couldn't win a division where every team was under .500. At least we got quality reaction videos out of the triplets Stephen A Smith, Michael Irvin and Skip Bayless.
THE GAMES
Houston Texans 3
Baltimore Ravens 20
The Texans made the Browns look like a joke as Joe Flaccoed the game away throwing 2 pick 6s. Their fans won't forget this season and C.J. Stroud looks like he could be the real deal but the Ravens will be too much for them to handle with their 6th ranked offense and defense.
Green Bay Packers 10
San Francisco 49ers 24
Cowboys fans were crushed, and the national media was straight up angry that the Packers won like they were betting on the game. Did they not read that Green Bay won 9 of the last 10 games against Dallas? The Pack simply took advantage of the Boys mistakes to get a convincing win. I don't expect the Niners to make the same mistakes and they should get an easy win.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13
Detroit Lions 24
The Bucs shocked the world (not me) when they sent Nick Sirianni to the hotseat and Jason Kelce home crying (he's not retired yet). While Jared Goff got revenge against the team that treated him like a scrub as the Lions got their first playoff win in 30 years. Speaking of scrubs, Lions safety CJ Gardner-Johnson doesn't think much of Bucs QB Baker Mayfield. LOL
Kansas City Swifties 34
Buffalo Bills 7
I didn't watch the Peacock game but I heard the Chiefs were dominant against the Dolphins. The Bills dispatched the Steelers to set up this Patrick Mahomes-Josh Allen rivalry game that's scripted to be this generation's Tom Brady-Peyton Manning rivalry. It's good for football for out of division rivalries to form but man, seeing Taylor Swift every 5 minutes will be even more annoying. I wonder how many people are at the point they root against them because of her?
