♫ One of these teams just doesn't belong. ♫ Unsurprisingly, Battlehawks fans are pissed that their season ended at 7-3 while the Renegades get in the playoffs with a 4-6 record. I mentioned last week for a league that brags about being innovative, I'm surprised they're sticking with the traditional divisional method instead of just going with the 4 best teams in this 8-team league. When you have so few teams, you're more likely to have a bad team qualify for the playoffs. I assume after the season The Rock, or some other stooge will give a long-drawn-out speech about competition and fairness and blah blah blah before changing it for next season.
THE GAMES
Arlington Renegades 15
Houston Roughnecks 24
This season, Houston is 2-0 against Arlington including a convincing win by the Roughnecks last week. They was just gashing them with read option plays while the defense held them to field goals. I don't feel the Renegades can pull off a upset so what if the XFL had the 4 best teams instead? By that measure, it would be STL vs D.C. and SEA vs HOU. I would take Seattle over Houston, then D.C. beats St. Louis giving us the match below as the championship game instead of a semifinal. The Battlehawks still would be losers but at least it be in the playoffs.
Seattle Sea Dragons 34
D.C. Defenders 32
The Defenders have beaten the Sea Dragons twice but their games were far closer. Seattle got a easy win off the Vipers while D.C. barely eliminated San Antonio. The Battlehawks destroyed the Guardians to put them out of their misery. I'm gonna take a chance and choose Seattle to win the 3rd matchup. Yes, Ben DiNucci throws too many goddamn interceptions (especially in the endzone) but D.C. lately has been giving up leads and allowing their opponents to hang around till the end of the game. If Ben doesn't fuckup, they can overwhelm D.C. through the air.
LAST WEEK: 4-0
OVERALL: 30-10
