It's finally the start of the spring football promotional war as the XFL is in the back half of their season while the USFL starts their second season. They will be competing with each other for the next couple of months so it will be interesting to see who will draw more viewers. While arena football leagues and their fans coexist with each other, will these 2 leagues do the same? Or will fans of these leagues shit on each other like WWE and AEW fans. I don't expect one side to take the other league out like WWE did with WCW/ECW. I sure as hell don't want a merger either because that's just stupid considering how different the leagues are. I feel they should just coexist as well and don't try to be a NFL minor league because we have college football for that.
THE GAMES
Vegas Vipers 18
Houston Roughnecks 21
I spent way too much goddamn time on creating that header, updating my Madden Greatest Hits and finding players for the NFL All No Photo Team that will be outdated by the time you read it. Anyways, the way Houston struggled so much against San Antonio, I'm not too confident they will win this. They sacked Jack Coan 6 times and picked him off twice but 2 interceptions by Brandon Silvers along with 11 penalties kept this game close. They're lucky they're the only winning team in their division, but they got to cutout the mistakes by playoff time.
Orlando Guardians 15
San Antonio Brahmas 17
My misguided confidence in the Guardians cost me of being perfect last week. Shit. If I was betting on games I REALLY would be pissed! The Guardians forced 3 fumbles out of the Renegades, but fresh off of scoring 6TDs, Quinten Dormady threw 2 interceptions AND lost 3 fumbles himself! He likely got happy feet from getting sacked 4 times. I just don't like the South division in general so I won't fall for the banana in the tailpipe again and choose SA to win.
Arlington Renegades 16
D.C. Defenders 23
The Renegades lead the XFL in takeaways, but their offense sucks. With a hard fought win over Seattle, a D.C. football team is finally going to a playoff! That along with Dan Snyder FINALLY selling the Commanders, football fans in the DMV had a lot to celebrate this week.
Seattle Sea Dragons 28
St. Louis Battlehawks 13
The Battlehawks didn't do jack until late in the game when they tied it up to force their bastardized version of college rules overtime. It's like college where they take turns on their opponent's side of the field to score, but the XFL treats it like a NHL shootout where they have to score a 2 point conversion 2 out of 3 times. It's faster than those marathons college was known for but I still prefer sudden death overtime because I actually believe in defense. Anyways, I feel Seattle's offense is too high powered for St. Louis to keep up and I'll pick them to win.
LAST WEEK: 3-1
OVERALL: 22-10
