A Dynasty Is Born. UFL End Of Season Review

Birmingham Stallions celebrating UFL championship.

What better way to get revenge on the team that ended your winning streak that spanned across multiple leagues than to shut them out 25-0? The Brahmas were known for their strong defense but they couldn't stop the Stallions run game while the Brahmas offense didn't do much. People love throwing the term dynasty around like a beach ball at a pool party but the Stallions truly are a dynasty. And not only did Skip Holtz do it while spitting on the 2 QBs = No QBs narrative, but he also didn't let the losses of QB Alex McGough and kicker Brandon Aubrey to the NFL or RB Bo Scarbrough and LB Scooby Wright III to retirement affect them at all. Basically, he's what people thought Bill Belichick would be when Tom Brady left the Patriots. He had this Next Man Up mentality where they won as a team instead of relying on one person to ball out.

Birmingham Stallions are a dynasty
I just wanted to put this dynasty poster on here.

Speaking of Brady, he finally pushed Greg Olsen out of the top color commentor job as his first assignment was presenting the MVP trophy to QB Adrian Martinez. But don't cry for Greggo, he's in Madden 2025. And while I'm here...fuck the UFL's website. I already trashed how they outsourced their stats page and even after the season is over the left part of the table is cut off. And don't say it's my computer screen that's too small because other leagues stats pages fit my screen. I hope they don't have this problem the next 4 years, if they last that long.

UFL, NFL, IFL, and NCAA stats pages.
When it comes to stat pages, it's NFL>>>>>NCAA>>>IFL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>UFL

END OF SEASON REVIEW

Birmingham Stallion celebrating.
Birmingham Stallions 9-1

Y'know, the fact that Skip was able to win 3 straight spring football championships with 4 different QBs should get him inducted into the HOF. Granted, only 1 person is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame while never having anything to do with the NFL, but I feel his accomplishments should get him in. The HOF does acknowledge these spring leagues like when they added Victor Bolden Jr's gloves after a 90-yard kickoff return TD in 2022 and the football Jake Bates kicked a 64-yard FG with back in April. Like damn, he's 30-4 coaching in 2 different spring football leagues using rosters that mostly change outside of the few star players on the team. If not, can we at least get him in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame for repping Birmingham well?

St. Louis Battlehawks fans proud of their attendence numbers.

St. Louis Battlehawks 7-3

After being denied of a playoff spot for 2 straight years, the Battlehawks not only makes it to the postseason, but St. Louis is also hosting it! Only to lose to the Brahmas in the XFL conference championship game. San Antonio had a really strong defense so I can't mock them for taking that L. Despite that, it was a great season for them where their fans channeled their hatred of Stan Kroenke for moving the Rams from St. Louis to Inglewood into fully backing this team. The Dome at America's Center hosted the top 7 most attended UFL games this season and showed the 7 other fanbases in the league there's St. Louis, then there's everybody else. KAKAW!

Mad San Antonio Brahma player.
San Antonio Brahmas 7-3

It's amazing what a competent coach can do for a team. Last year, they finished 3-7 in the XFL doing a poor job of being The Rock's namesake team with former Steelers WR Hines Ward as head coach. He leaves and Wade Phillips comes over from Houston to flip their record and lead them to the UFL championship game. Where they got promptly smoked by the Stallions. It was still a successful season, and they should make it back to the playoffs next season as well.

Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates celebrating with teammates.
Michigan Panthers 7-3

In the USFL, the breakout star of the league was Brandon Aubrey who was a soccer player before becoming the Stallions kicker. This year, Jake Bates took the world by storm going 21 for 28 with a long of 64 this season despite only being a kickoff specialist in college after switching from soccer. His ability to bomb long field goals got him signed by the Detroit Lions on a 2-year $1.98 million deal with $150,000 guaranteed and a $100,000 signing bonus. Not bad for someone coming from a league that didn't have PATs. As for the Panthers, they came a long way from when they were the USFL's laughingstock with a coach riding off losing a Super Bowl.

DC Defenders with their coach.
D.C. Defenders 4-6

D.C. got a rude awakening. Jordan Ta'amu was 2nd in passing yards with 1,845 and TDs with 15 but lead the league in INTs with 9. I don't want to shit on him considering his offensive line did him no favors as he was 2nd in times sacked with 19. His defense was also bad as they were in the bottom half across the board in stats. It's like he split the difference between his time in the 2 leagues where he played good like in the XFL but his team sucked like in the USFL.

Arlington Renegades QB Luis Perez being sacked by a San Antonio Brahmas player.
Arlington Renegades 3-7

Same for Luis Perez and the Renegades where they couldn't take advantage of a weak division to sneak in the playoffs and win the championship. Luis was statistically the best QB passing 225/336 for 2,309 yards, 18 TDs and 4 INTs. Aside from getting 10 interceptions, the defense was just bad getting gashed by everyone. They're not the first team to go from champion to chump so no worries there. But they do need to get better on defense and line play though.

Case Cookus sacked by Birmingham Stallion.
Memphis Showboats 2-8

Just a friendly reminder that the Showboats was originally the trash ass Tampa Bay Bandits that Ta'amu was slaving away on in the USFL. You would think with Case Cookus as their QB, Darius Victor at RB and John DeFilippo coaching them, Memphis would be playoff contenders. But that plan went down the drain very quick as their offensive line was exposed as absolute dogshit. They went through 3 QBs and gave up a combined 39 sacks (Cookus-20, Troy Williams-15, Josh Love-4). If Case returns next season, he should demand that OL be a priority.

Fred reveals the ghost meme.

Houston Gamblers 1-9

After that trash ass performance, I'm not calling them the Roughnecks anymore. We already know that these are the same Gamblers that stunk up the USFL but since the XFL's Roughnecks had their own stadium, they changed the name, which was stupid in hindsight. They're not even playing in TDECU Stadium anymore because they moved to Rice Stadium! So what the hell was the point of choosing the Roughnecks name over Gamblers because they had a home stadium last season when this team isn't even playing in the same fucking stadium this season? So yeah, until Houston wins the UFL championship, I'm calling them the Gamblers.
