It's the final week of the regular season were both playoff matchups are set but home field advantage is up for grabs. I could talk about the Renegades taking advantage of the Battlehawks being without AJ McCarron. I could talk about the Defenders beating the Showboats. I could talk about the Panthers needing to overcome a double-digit deficit to beat the Roughnecks. But I won't because my internet was down since Memorial Day due to the heavy storms that wreaked havoc on the country, and I have some things to get off my chest.
THE GAMES
Michigan Panthers 21
Birmingham Stallions 24
Starting with the Brahmas snapping the Stallions 15 game win streak with their strong defense. It seems that Houston provided a blueprint on how to beat Birmingham which is, a strong defense. BHAM was never an explosive offense, an offense that you're dreading of facing. So, a defensive mastermind like Wade Phillips shutting down the ponies isn't too surprising. I will still pick them to win against Michigan, but they better get their shit together next week.
San Antonio Brahmas 17
St. Louis Battlehawks 20
I don't watch basketball so I'm barely paying attention to what's going on in the NBA. Next week the Dallas Mavericks will play the Boston Celtics and apparently that's a bad thing(?) because the media won't have anything to talk about for a week. My God, is the NBA media seriously that lost where if they can't dick ride LeBron then they turn into an NPC that exhausted all of its lines? I found out this is only the 3rd time that the NBA Finals matchup will be between 2 Black coaches, which is shocking to me. Plus, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd can become the 8th person to win the NBA Finals as a player and a coach for the same team while Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla is the youngest coach to make it at 35 years old since Bill Russell did it in 1969!
Arlington Renegades 16
D.C. Defenders 18
While looking up NBA stories like the Mavericks having a chance to become the first 5th seed to win the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy since the NBA expand to a 16-team playoff field 40 years ago, the Birmingham-Southern Panthers is facing elimination from the D-3 baseball playoffs after losing yesterday on the same day their school officially shutdown. Birmingham-Southern College was an Alabama private liberal arts school that was a merger of 2 other schools whose most famous alumni are voice actress Jennifer Hale and Amanda Bearse who was Marcy in Married...with Children. Your typical financial fuckups doomed this school to the point where they were already throwing furniture away in dumpsters before the team flew out for the tournament. I would've taken anything that wasn't bolted down: lamps, posters, towels, lunch tables, TVs, fuck it, BSC isn't gonna miss em, they're dead! So now they have to beat the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets later today to stay alive in the double elimination bracket.
Houston Roughnecks 10
Memphis Showboats 12
LAST WEEK: 2-2
OVERALL: 26-10
