So Much For Sloppy Football. NFL Week 2 Preview

Los Angeles cornerback Jalen Ramsey laying a hit stick on a Dallas Cowboys receiver.

Last week, I said the games were gonna be sloppy due to the lack of preseason games this year. I based it on previous years where teams were making mistakes left and right during the opening three weeks of the season. But last week, there weren't that many mental errors and about the same amount of miscommunications and blown coverages as your typical midseason game. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of football on the field. I guess they realized that the season could be shut down at any moment so they can't dilly dally around.

THE GAMES

2020 NFL season week 2 Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns

Cincinnati Bengals  28
Cleveland Browns   31

It's the Battle of Ohio, the Battle of #1 Draft Picks, the Battle of Orange Helmets. Whatever you wanna call it, it won't matter that much since it's a NFL Network Exclusive. I consider this a tossup so I go with Baker to win this Johnny Football Bowl.

2020 NFL season week 2 Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans

Jacksonville Jaguars 24
Tennessee Titans       10

The simulation is still isn't sold on the Titans being legitimate this year. Or maybe it has more faith in Uncle Rico leading the Jags to a comfortable win.

2020 NFL season week 2 Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Carolina Panthers            31
Tompa Bay Buccaneers  34

Brady didn't have the best game last week against the Saints throwing two interceptions including a pick-6. Him along with Gronk and Fournette were hyped up to leading this team to the Super Bowl but they didn't do much either. The Bucs has to get their run game going to open up the passing lanes because you can't hope on your defense to shutdown the opposing quarterback every week.

2020 NFL season week 2 Denver Broncos vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Denver Broncos       24
Pittsburgh Steelers  21

Big Ben said it felt like he was in a "car wreck" a day after it felt like he was in a "train wreck". Take that as you will, but at least his arm feels fine for now. As long as the O-line keeps him upright, the next games just might feel like a "bike crash" afterall but hopefully not the motorcycle variety. Still go with the Broncos though.

2020 NFL season week 2 Los Angeles Rams vs Philadelphia Eagles

LA Rams                    17
Philadelphia Eagles  38

The NFL was mad at coaches like Sean McVay for wearing their masks like chinstraps. They had to remind them that they are to wear the masks at all times or face severe punishment.

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay on the sideline calling plays during a NFL game.

Earlier that day, the Eagles choked away a 17 point lead giving up 27 unanswered points to the NOT Redskins. Looks like the Eagles are gonna take out their frustrations on the Rams.

2020 NFL season week 2 San Francisco 49ers vs New York Jets

San Francisco 49ers   24
NY Jets                         17

The Jets are such a nothing franchise, the first video on this matchup page is them giving up the longest TD run in OT history to Garrison Hearst in 1998. Expect more of the same here.

2020 NFL season week 2 Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins
Buffalo Bills         16
Miami Dolphins   28

The Dolphins had a tough time stopping Cam Newton and the Patriots. Now they have to deal with another duel threat QB in Josh Allen who lit up the Jets last week. They need FitzMagic to get it together or they will be forced to put Tua in earlier than expected.

2020 NFL season week 2 Minnesota Vikings vs Indianapolis Colts

Minnesota Vikings   6
Indianapolis Colts  27

Both teams are coming off tough losses that dampened their high expectations. These teams should be in the playoff picture down the road but I take the Colts to get this win.

2020 NFL season week 2 Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers

Detroit Lions             31
Green Bay Packers  10

I don't see how the simulation predicted a big win by the Lions over the Packers of all teams. Maybe it predicts they will have a much better time without the (real) crowd noise.

2020 NFL season week 2 Atlanta Falcons vs Dallas Cowboys

Atlanta Falcons   24
Dallas Cowboys  27

The Cowboys just can't catch a break. Sean Lee was already injured and you can add Leighton Vander Esch and his broken collarbone to that injury list as well. Now they need to shuffle their linebacker corps and hope their defense can hold off Matty Ice and the Falcons.

2020 NFL season week 2 New York Giants vs Chicago Bears

NY Giants          20
Chicago Bears  13

Hey look! A battle of two mediocre QBs! If only there was a free agent QB who could help them get to that next level! Oh well, go with the Giants here!

2020 NFL season week 2 Washington Football Team vs Arizona Cardinals

FC Washington       31
Arizona Cardinals   20

Washington did a good job rallying in the second half putting up 27 unanswered points against the Eagles. So let's see if they can carry that momentum into Arizona.

2020 NFL season week 2 Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers

Kansas City Chiefs  16
LA Chargers             23

The Chargers are a good team...sort of, they just need to be more consistent. So I go with this game as my upset special.

2020 NFL season week 2 Baltimore Ravens vs Houston Texans

Baltimore Ravens  17
Houston Texans     27

The Texans had a rough go at the defending Super Bowl champs last week and it doesn't get any easier this week either. J.J. Watt has to step up as well as their remaining receivers if they want to pull out this victory.

2020 NFL season week 2 New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks

New England Patriots  37
Seattle Seahawks         20

When was the last time people said the Patriots were fun to watch? Cam Newton looked like his old self running for two TDs last week as he beat the Dolphins 21-11. Of course, the Seahawks will provide a tougher challenge on SNF (RIP player introductions), but if Cam can add some passing TDs to his statline, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.

2020 NFL season week 2 New Orleans Saints vs Las Vegas Raiders

New Orleans Saints  30
Las Vegas Raiders     7

The Rams christened their new stadium on Sunday Night with a win against the Cowboys. The Raiders however won't have the same luck as they face the Saints on Monday Night.

LAST WEEK 8-8
