The NFL released their
schedule and it gave plenty of topics to talk about. The Chiefs got the most
primetime
games with 7 while the Saints and surprisingly, the Titans and Browns got
none. I understand the Saints because Derek Carr
retired
due to his shoulder injury but neither Shedeur Sanders nor Cam Ward was
enough to get their teams a TNF game? With the addition of both Ireland and
Spain to their travel plans, the NFL will have 7
international
games this season. But the thing I want to talk about is the NFL placing
their Brazil game on
YouTube.
For the 1st time ever, a NFL game will exclusively stream worldwide on
YouTube (except in Canada) as the Chargers host the Chiefs in their return
to Brazil. I don't think I ever watched a
international
NFL game because it would always be on NFL Network, which I don't have. But
as someone who regularly watch foreign and indoor league football on
YouTube, this is a real treat! Especially since it's on actual YouTube for
free instead of just YouTube TV where NFL Sunday Ticket is located. I hope
this will be a regular thing on their
channel just like
other leagues.
THE GAMES
Memphis Showboats 27
San Antonio Brahmas 29
Various foreign football leagues stream full games for the whole season on
YouTube like the FPFA, HFL, IFL, LFA and PFL. While leagues like
FEFA
and the MFL mainly do the finals. Then there're other leagues like the AFL who
let the local TV network
livestream
their games. Whether it's full games or highlights, YouTube is a great way
to make games accessible to a worldwide audience. It beats locking games
to Peacock and other streamers that's for sure.
Michigan Panthers 32
Houston Gamblers 21
While in America, there are few outdoor leagues that even bother to upload
games to YouTube. It's not because of existing multibillion dollar deals
with other platforms. It's mainly because they don't have the money or
infrastructure to do it on a weekly basis. This ignores the fact that all
they need is a phone, a internet connection and a Google account to post
their games. The only one I know that stream their full season is the
A7FL. If you feel football should be played without pads, then this league is
for you. AJ Hawk and Pat McAfee sure got a kick out of their
highlights.
Birmingham Stallions 16
St. Louis Battlehawks 15
As for the indoor leagues, you can count on them being a
shitshow. It was only a few years ago that it was like 4, 5 arena leagues that
were streaming their games online. Nowadays, 3 of them are dead, the top
one moved their games to their own
subscription
service and the other one had their account nuked by YouTube for
some reason. It probably has to do with them playing music in the arena since their
new channel has the games
unlisted. With all the licensed music they play during NFL games, at least they
don't have to worry about this bullshit.
Arlington Renegades 22
DC Defenders 24
Unlike
Caleb Williams, I completely ignored the UFL even though I was
perfect
last week. The
Brahmas
and
Showboats
are playing for pride at this point not wanting to be the worst team in
the league. The Panthers was able to
edge out the Renegades but they shouldn't have a problem with Houston. Maybe
now that J'Mar Smith (WTF he
doesn't
have a headshot?) is back, Birmingham won't look so sluggish on offense. Arlington keeps shooting
themselves in the foot so I go with DC to win this. Hard to believe the
Renegades are
XFL champions.
LAST WEEK: 4-0
OVERAL: 18-10
