Since nothing of note
happened
this week, I'm gonna talk about the IFL a little bit. After seeing how
feckless
the NAL is and witnessing the revived
shitshow
known as the AFL, I can confidently say that after 16 season the
Indoor Football League
is the best ran indoor/arena football league. If indoor football wasn't so
fractured, the best teams and the ones that been around for a long time would play
in the same league. If only legacy teams like the
Nashville Kats
and
Orlando Predators
were here instead of
Arena Football One(?). If only the Omaha Beef and
Sioux City Bandits, both teams who have existed since 2000, were in the IFL instead of the
NAL. Unfortunately, with the different rules each league has, I don't see them
all consolidating any time soon.
THE GAMES
Hamilton County Bengals 28
Baltimore Ravens 35
Baltimore is an independent city
so they're not actually part of Baltimore County.
Bergen County Giants
27
Mecklenburg County Panthers 3
What did Germany do
to deserve such a shitty game?
Norfolk County Patriots 17
Cook County Bears 24
Cook County
is the 2nd most populous county behind LA County with a 2020 population of
5,275,541.
Erie County Bills 28
Marion County Colts 27
Rich people leaving Indianapolis to neighboring suburbs in Marion County led to the decay of the city. So in 1970 the Indiana General
Assembly consolidated Indianapolis and Marion County into a city-county
government called
Unigov.
There are 11 "included towns" that retained their own identity as towns
but they have to abide by Indianapolis' laws. There are also 4 "excluded
cities and town" that got to keep their governmental autonomy for the most
part. The U.S. Census Bureau however use the population of the area of
what was the City of Indianapolis before the consolidation calling it the
"balance".
Hennepin County Vikings 7
Duval County Jaguars 23
Corruption in the city and county governments played a huge part in the
consolidation
of the City of Jacksonville and Duval County in 1968. The only 4 Duval County municipalities that remained
somewhat independent of Jacksonville was
Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach,
Neptune Beach
and
Baldwin.
Denver Broncos 16
Jackson County Chiefs 36
Denver became a consolidated city-county in 1902 after Arapahoe County was split into the new Adams County
and South Arapahoe County which later dropped the South part.
Fulton County Falcons 16
New Orleans Saints 31
Louisiana and Alaska are the only states that don't call their administrative divisions counties. Louisiana has parishes while Alaska
calls them boroughs, so New Orleans is a consolidated city-parish.
Santa Clara County 49ers
41
Hillsborough County Buccaneers 21
Unlike Baltimore, Santa Clara is part of its
namesake county.
Allegheny County Steelers
23
Prince George's County Commanders 17
There's been attempts to consolidate Pittsburgh and
Allegheny County
but nothing happened yet.
Davidson County Titans 24
Los Angeles County Chargers 7
Urban sprawl led to the consolidation of the City of Nashville and Davidson County into a
metropolitan
government in 1963. This Metro Nashville is split into 2 districts where
the "urban services district" encompasses the original City of Nashville
(whose
balance
is used to count Nashville's population) while the "general services
district" consist of the 6 smaller satellite cities of Davidson County
that have their own police forces.
Bergen County Jets
7
Maricopa County Cardinals 34
Even though
Bergen County
is in a completely different state, it is still part of the New York
metropolitan
area.
Philadelphia Eagles 17
Tarrant County Cowboys 10
Lawlessness was one of the main reasons why Philadelphia
became
a consolidated city-county in 1854. The surrounding municipalities was
rife with crime due to inadequate law enforcement. Hell, people could
commit crimes in Philadelphia City and cross the border into a neighboring
township to get away since there was no communication between the city and
county. So Governor William Bigler signed a bill allowing Philadelphia
City to absorb the 28 surrounding townships, districts, and boroughs in
Philadelphia County
to form modern day Philadelphia. Philadelphia County still "exists" but it
has no government structure with most of its services being handled by the
city itself.
Wayne County Lions 44
Harris County Texans 7
With a population of 4,731,145, Harris County is the 3rd most populous
county in the country.
Miami-Dade County Dolphins 29
Los Angeles County Rams 21
After 5 failed attempts, Dade County was renamed
Miami-Dade County
in 1997 to acknowledge the international name recognition of Miami making
it the only hyphenated county in America.
LAST WEEK: 9-6
OVERALL: 82-56
