I'm Almost Done. USFL Week 10 Preview

Almost done with a puzzle.

It's the final week of the regular season and I only paid attention to about half of it. I didn't watch MICH-PITNO-MEMBHAM-HOU or PHI-NJ because I was still making sexy gifs and editing the video for the 2023 XFL All No Photo Team. Well I'm finally caught up with the gifs so I will post the remaining 3 months in the last week of this month. The no photo teams and season review will be next week so stay tuned for that. In this preview, I'm gonna muse about other sporting events that happened this week that you may or may not care about.

THE GAMES

2023 USFL season week 10 Pittsburgh Maulers vs New Jersey Generals
Pittsburgh Maulers      17
New Jersey Generals   21

I like watching indoor football on YouTube, so I was aware of the existence of the Albany Empire before Antonio Brown brought the team. This season has been such a shitshow, the players and coaches are numb to the weekly turnover on the team. After a blowout that was such a mess, the entire Empire team got an Unsportsmanlike Penalty, they was without a QB after dumping both Ronald Rivers III (AGAIN!!!) and backup Jeffrey Legree. Now I just found out that the NAL booted them from the league! But check this out, they didn't kick them to the curb over AB making a mockery of football turning a defending champion into a laughingstock. They kicked them out because Antonio refused to pay the monthly league assessment payment.

So playing musical chairs with the QBs was fine. Not paying the players and locking them out of their hotel rooms causing the mass exodus to Orlando and other teams was fine. Promising to play in a game to bring in an additional 2,000 fans to the game then not even suit up for it was fine. Hell, talking shit about the NAL and saying the Empire is going back to the AFL was fine. But not paying the NAL their check? Now all of a sudden the league has standards! I don't know how the latest attempt in reviving the AFL will work out but I don't see the NAL existing for too much longer. They might merge with the CIF to survive the additional competition.

Speaking of football, Madden players sure bitch alot about the game. Or should I say, Franchise players sure bitch alot about MUT players. I talked shit about Madden before but unlike those Franchise players, I don't keep buying the game every year knowing damn well I will hate it. They're mad at MUT players for "ruining" Madden because all EA cares about is the online modes that rakes in billions of dollars. Instead of lashing out at those who enjoy the game and others who only care that they're getting a fat check from EA, support the indy football games that are out there. You can't call Madden a monopoly when you refused to buy other football games like Backbreaker and All Pro Football 2k8. You Franchise fans have yourselves to blame for continuing to buy a product you don't like while at the same time refusing to buy alternatives just because it doesn't have the brand name NFL shield on the cover. YOU are the reason there is no competition because off brand football games don't make money.

2023 USFL season week 10 New Orleans Breakers vs Houston Gamblers
New Orleans Breakers    27
Houston Gamblers          26

This was a bad week for Florida sports fans. Both of their teams lost the championship in 5 games. The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Florida Panthers in a blowout for the Stanley Cup and the Denver Nuggets proved the haters wrong winning the NBA championship over the Miami Heat. It's not all bad news in the Sunshine State though. The Miami Marlins are 2nd in the NL East and the Miami Dolphins look promising this upcoming season (Can't say the same for the Bucs though). Oh, and Lionel Messi moved into Miami's Major League Retirement Home.

2023 USFL season week 10 Philadelphia Stars vs Michigan Panthers
Philadelphia Stars   14
Michigan Panthers   6

Since road/street courses are the hot thing in Nascar, I wonder what a 600-mile street circuit would look like. It would have to be in a state that's big enough to have such a massive track like Texas and have lots of open land and a small population like Wyoming. It would be a 1 lap endurance race where certain small towns that the track goes through would be available for pit stops. It would be a special race after the season where every driver who was in a Cup, Xfinity or Truck race can take part in their respective ride. The winning driver and their crew would split $5 million. Not bad just to race on highways and dirt roads through West Texas towns.

LAST WEEK:   2-2
OVERALL:     21-15
