Player Safety My Ass! USFL Week 7 Preview

Pat McAfee doesn't like Roger Goodell's rule changes.

Since I didn't watch any of last week's games, I'm gonna rant about recent news out of the NFL. They made roster changes that bails out teams for being unprepared even though they have a injury bug. They screwed over fans who plan months in advance on what game they're going to. They pissed off many people for pussifing football even more. I want to get this out the way now since I already decided what topic to speak on for week 1 of the upcoming NFL season.

Thursday Night Football games will now get to be flexed. Amazon probably didn't like all the bad games they were getting so they demanded their games can be flexed out just like SNF and MNF this season. TNF always had crap games since they started the practice back in 2006 mainly because 4 days isn't enough time for players to fully recover from Sunday games. So for now, the flexing will be between weeks 13 and 17, Amazon will have a maximum of 2 flexes per season and they have to give teams a heads up a month prior to the change. I knew this could happen after the NFL shifted games to different days with little warning during the pandemic season. In addition to players getting fucked over, fans who save up their money to go to a certain game get fucked over as well. But this isn't the only time the NFL bends them over.

Peacock will get exclusive coverage of a wildcard game. When ESPN got a playoff game, I knew the end was near when it came to playoff games being available on regular TV. Streaming just sped things up. For the longest time, the NFL could say they was the only sports league in the world where EVERY playoff game was available OTA but that's no longer the case. Oh, they will spin it by saying every playoff game is available in local markets, but it's absolute BULLSHIT that a PLAYOFF GAME gets locked away on a shitty streaming service of a shitty network I don't bother to watch unless football is on. You're just making it easy for people to rationalize going to a sketchy website that may or may not have viruses to watch games for free.

Teams can now have a emergency QB who is not on the active roster get in the game when the other 2 goes down. This is in the wake of that dumbass Kyle Shanahan continuing to tempt fate and only dress 2 QBs despite the fact he was on his 3rd stringer due to his starting and backup QBs getting injured for the season. Seriously, you can't protect your QBs and you have to pickup Josh Johnson off his couch to be a backup. WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU SIGN ANOTHER QUARTERBACK!!! It's like common sense doesn't exist in the NFL. Speaking of...

The headliner of this rant is the NFL changing their kickoff rules to be like college where a fair catch inside the 25 yard line brings it out to the 25. Unsurprisingly, people who made their money off of special teams didn't like the news at all. The league used player safety as their excuse for fucking up kickoffs even more, which is bullshit. You're just said you're forcing players to play on a Thursday when they thought they was gonna play on a Sunday and play in these different countries fucking up their routines. All without giving them a 2nd bye week. And you're claiming you care about player safety when hurting the special teams aspect of football? GTFOH! It's no secret that the NFL (and many fans in general) hate the kicking game. They hate the only players who put the FOOT in football. Without them, this game really would be handegg. I expect kickoffs, field goals and punting to be eliminated from the NFL in 10 years.

LAST WEEK:  3-1
OVERALL:    13-11
