Before I go on about how this game will be in textbooks, let's talk about the Pro Bowl (Games). As expected, I mainly cared about the dodgeball event. The gauntlet was interesting, and it was funny how the NFC tried to pull the sled with the weights on while the AFC knew to take those off first. The long snappers were the only ones who hit the board in Kick-Tac-Toe, the water balloon toss was stupid and Best Catch was lame. Outside of excellent camera work for Stefon Diggs cheerleader assisted catch and Pete Davidson's 69 joke, the event was meh.
They also played Madden. I would be shocked if EA showed the same effort, they put into shilling tacky ass uniforms for their online modes and put flag football in next year. This is the same company that took the Pro Bowl out because they were too lazy to have players wear different helmets. Maybe they should ask YoBoy PIZZA how to change the field dimensions.
I didn't expect to be that invested in the passing and long drive events, but they held my interest. As for the flag football game, what a shitshow it was. Apparently, the NFL changed some of the official flag football rules for the game but didn't tell the refs that. So, the refs would throw a flag, Peyton Manning gets pissed and the commentators are confused as to what's happening on the field. Pat McAfee kept telling Kirk Herbstreit that he read the rulebook they gave him, but no one gave the rules to the refs, I guess. It's fitting that a season marred by bad officiating had a Pro Bowl with miscommunication between the zebras and NFL personal. God, I hate to see the future of the National Flag Football League. Whoever wrote this script should be fired!
In case you didn't know, this is the first time 2 Black QBs are facing off in the Super Bowl. Since it's Black History Month, people won't shutup about it even though the vast majority of fans sees Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes as 2 talented QBs who are the lifeblood of their clubs. But this is the Super Bowl, so you got people who didn't care about football, won't care about football and will never care about football, chiming in on this football game. I feel it's disingenuous that the people championing this event are the same ones who were calling the NFL racist and for football to be outlawed. That's probably why Rhianna all of a sudden wants to do the Super Bowl halftime show. Jay-Z sent her the script that had these 2 brothas lead their squads to the world championship and she's like "Colin Kaepernick? Never heard of him. I'll be there in Arizona!".
I forgot these 2 are also Texas boys. Patrick is from Tyler and Jalen is from Houston. So once again the Lone Star State shows its dominance in the football world. Too bad UT sucks ass.
The 2nd most notable thing about this matchup is Andy Reid becoming the 5th head coach to go against his old team in the big game. He's the most winningest coach for both franchises despite how much he was mocked in Philly for his bad clock management. Well here he is going for his 3rd Lombardi Trophy against the Eagles who are looking for their 5th league championship. BTW, Nick Sirianni was a WR coach of 4 years for the Chiefs before Reid fired him in 2013.
And finally, the C Story in this episode is the Kelce Bowl! Eagles center Jason and Chiefs TE Travis are the first brothers to face each other in the Super Bowl. Well, not ACTUALLY face off because they're both on offense but they're on opposing teams. I'm actually surprised by that with how many brothers that been in the NFL. Jim and John Harbaugh coached against each other in Super Bowl XLVII but other than that, no sibling rivalry took place on the biggest stage in football. It looks like out of the ones who do play in the league at the same time, most of them either play on the same team, in the same conference or one of them doesn't play that long.
THE BIG GAME
Kansas City Chiefs 34
Philadelphia Eagles 20
As for the actual game itself, I got the Chiefs winning it. It's weird how people are just writing them off and crowning the Eagles champs before the game even starts. KC has the #1 offense while Philly is #2. Maybe it's because KC's defense is 12th while Philly is 3rd.
Both QBs are threats in the air and on the ground and are coming off injuries that could've dashed their title hopes. And unlike their last Super Bowl trip, I don't see KC starting slow or Mahomes running for his life this time. And I'm not saying that just because Philly had an "easy" road to Arizona with 2 bye weeks over an overachieving Giants and Niners squad who was shit out of luck when Brock Purdy tore his UCL and Josh Johnson got a concussion. Apparently, no one else on that team played QB in high school or college so they sent an injured Purdy back out there to hand the ball off. Why didn't this so-called genius Kyle Shanahan run Wildcat? Or better yet, why the hell didn't they dress a 3rd QB knowing they have problems keeping their passers healthy? You would think if you're down to your 3rd stringer Mr. Irrelevant, you would be prepared if he goes down and worst-case scenario, the 4th stringer gets injured as well.
