The NFL postponed 3 games due to corona outbreaks out of player safety. At least that's what they claimed at first. Allegedly, the NFL wanted to cancel the games so they didn't have to pay the players but the NFLPA pleaded for them to reschedule the games instead. I can't believe that a league that added 2 extra teams to their playoffs and a extra game to the schedule in 2 straight seasons would willingly give up money from playing 3 games. But if the reason behind it was so they wouldn't have to pay the players, it becomes more believable. The union also wanted daily testing but both the league and players was against it. Instead, we got a testing policy for vaccinated players (the main ones spreading it) that's basically "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
THE GAMES
San Francisco 49ers 20
Tennessee Titans 17
There's no more Thursday Night Football On FOX. Next season it becomes Amazon exclusive and may or may not have Al Michaels (and Troy Aikman) calling the games. I have Amazon so it wouldn't be much of a problem for me. Yeah, I would prefer that it stayed on TV but at least it's not on NFL Network where it would eat into my cellphone's data plan. Fuck those guys.
Cleveland Browns 7
Green Bay Packers 27
But FOX does get one more TNF Special with a Christmas game. They're also doing a John Madden documentary as the lead up so that would be cool to watch. The Packers are the first team to clinch a playoff spot so all they got left to do is dampen Cleveland's playoff hopes and get Aaron Rodgers to break Brett Favre's franchise TD record. That should be a easy job.
Indianapolis Colts 16
Arizona Cardinals 20
As for the last Saturday game of the season, the Cardinals are in danger of losing the division lead to the Rams. Sure, they will still make the playoffs but homefield advantage is still a big deal in the playoffs even though they're only 3-3 at home this season. The Colts just need to win.
New York Giants 3
Philadelphia Eagles 45
Why is the NFL pretending the Giants still have a shot at the playoffs with a 4-10 record? This isn't last season where every team in the NFC East finished under .500. The Cowboys are 10-4, Eagles 7-7 and Football Team 6-8. And I highly doubt they will string together 3 wins while the other 5 teams ahead of them lose the rest of the way so WTF? Just finish them off Birds.
Los Angeles Rams 10
Minnesota Vikings 47
My God the Vikings defense is awful. If it wasn't for that, this team wouldn't be hanging on to that 7th spot in a tie with the Eagles and Saints. Too bad Dalvin Cook is in Covid protocols.
Buffalo Bills 24
New England Patriots 41
A win here can help the Bills take the AFC East. A loss will kick them out of the wildcard spot. It's funny how teams that started off hot are sputtering at the end of the season.
Tompa Bay Buccaneers 24
Carolina Panthers 27
Touchdown Tom got shutout for the first time since 2006 due to multiple players underperforming and/or getting knocked out of the game. Chris Godwin is out for the season with a torn ACL (Brady wants low hits on receivers to be banned), Leonard Fournette is done for at least 3 games with a hamstring injury and Mike Evans' hamstring is keeping him out of practice. So you see why Bruce Arians isn't talking tough over Antonio Brown anymore. With all the injuries they're accumulating, they're gonna need him (and Le'Veon Bell) if they want a chance of repeating as champions. Also, the Panthers are doing their duo QB system again with Cam Newton starting and a returning Sam Darnold playing as well. Who's gonna start next season?
Jacksonville Jaguars 17
New York Jets 3
The Jaguars didn't suddenly play better without Urban Meyer, they still sucked against the Texans. Now they're in a position where the owners want to lose but the players want to win. The Jets are also in a tank or don't tank position so expect a sloppy game full of bad defense.
Detroit Lions 14
Atlanta Falcons 38
The Lions got their second surprise victory of the season this time over the playoff bound Cardinals. Where the hell was these Lions at the begging of the season? People were hyping up Arizona like they're a shoo in to the Super Bowl and they got blown out by the LIONS!!! It helps that the Cards are hurting but still, you must be conflicted if you're a Lions fan. Tank to get a high draft pick or keep winning to build confidence and lay a foundation of a winning culture? Hmm.
Los Angeles Chargers 20
Houston Texans 13
It's the Tyrod Taylor Bowl! So it seems that Deshaun Watson would've been a Dolphin if he convinced 4 holdouts of the 22 women to settle and a Panther if he waived his no trade clause. Instead, the Phins are pretending to like Tua, Carolina is playing musical chairs with their QBs and for some reason people think Davis Mills is a viable starter for the Texans. Yeesh.
Baltimore Ravens 37
Cincinnati Bungles 24
Once again, the Ravens went for 2 and lost. Once again, I have no problem with it. I will never fault a team for going for the win instead of settling for overtime. It's not like they did that dumb analytic bullshit where they went for it on 4th time every time like the Chargers. But I guess people were bitching them out too much so they released audio of John Harbaugh talking to his team asking them if they want to go for the win. I can't blame them, overtime is for cowards.
Chicago Bears 27
Seattle Seahawks 14
The Seahawks are gonna go Christmas shopping for a new QB. The Bears should go Christmas shopping for a new coach and dump their old one in a donation box at the corner store.
Pittsburgh Steelers 21
Kansas City Chiefs 49
Go with the Chiefs to win the Disrespected Midfield Logos Bowl and fuckup the Steelers playoff chances and Mike Tomlin's chance at finishing this season above .500.
Denver Broncos 30
Las Vegas Raiders 37
It's good to know Teddy Two Gloves is out of the hospital after being carted off. That is all.
Washington Rising 3
Dallas Cowboys 34
I don't remember Pro Bowl selections being announced this soon but the Cowboys got 5 players selected. Congrats to them and whatever bonuses they will get from the nominations.
Miami Dolphins 20
New Orleans Saints 24
It's a Christmas miracle! Ian Book is likely to start as Trevor Siemian and Taysom Hill are out with Covid. He did a nice job in my FBS playoffs so I hope he put on a show here as well.
LAST WEEK 8-8
