It was only Christmas Day that I saw how he currently looked in the Fox documentary All Madden. He looked like your typical senior citizen so I thought nothing of it as I watched the program. Then a couple days later I found out he died. It's surreal how he went from making his first public appearance in a long time in a tribute to his accomplishments to dead so quick.
It's like how Ultimate Warrior finally made up with the WWE after a decades long feud with them by getting in their video game and being inducted into their HOF in 2014. Then he cut a promo on the Raw after WrestleMania only to shockingly die the next day in! It's like they live their life knowing all the things they did to change the business. But once someone finally honors their past detailing how important they were in history, they can finally rest in peace.
Everything that can be said about John Madden has either been said already or will be said in the future by others so there's no need for me to repeat it. All I ask is for him to be on the cover of Madden 23. And not some bullshit MVP, GOAT, Ultimate, whatever $140 special edition. He should be on the cover for next year's game with game modes that honor him.
THE GAMES
Philadelphia Eagles 9
Washington Ambassadors 20
No more TNF games means I can post this as late as I want! Despite the projected win, Football Team's season is over with that kerfuffle during that ass kicking by the hands of Dem Boys capping off how much of a mess they are. If they showed that much fight on the field instead of on the sideline, Cris Collinsworth wouldn't have clowned them on national television.
Los Angeles Rams 23
Baltimore Ravens 34
So yeah...the Ravens need Lamar Jackson back. They need to win their final two games and hope 4 teams ahead of them lose theirs for a playoff shot. It's a longshot but anything's possible.
Tompa Bay Buccaneers 27
New York Jets 7
Tom Brady worked with the Pantone Color Institute to create a new color for his upcoming clothing line. It's fucking blue. They're calling it Brady Blue with your typical branding buzzwords where it was created "to embolden the next generation to reach new heights". Like with video games, people are gonna pay a lot of money for a minor cosmetic change because it's blue.
Miami Dolphins 10
Tennessee Titans 22
Miami missed out on the playoffs last season despite their 10 win season and are hanging on to that last wildcard spot by a thread this year. This average at best team won't have a legitimate gripe if they miss out again. Then we will see if it really is In Tua We Trust in Miami.
Jacksonville Jaguars 13
New England Patriots 25
The Jaguars are asking teams left and right to interview their coordinators before the season ends. It's promising that they're looking at guys who are actually successful at their current position instead of some random Sean McVay clone. Byron Leftwich coming back to coach the team he played QB for would be a nice story (he called it disrespectful to talk about it). I followed Kellen Moore's career ever since Boise St so that would be cool too. We seen worse coaches get another chance so I wouldn't be offended if Dan Quinn got hired and the Lions have been a shitshow since Jim Caldwell so he should've been had another job considering players tend to like him and he left with a winning record with both them and the Colts.
Las Vegas Raiders 24
Indianapolis Colts 3
Speaking of Colts, now that the NFL changed their Covid protocols so all players regardless of vaccination status can come back in 5 days if they're asymptomatic, can Carson Wentz play? Tuesday they had backup QB Sam Ehlinger scheduled to start but thing can change between then and Sunday. Whatever happens, coach Frank Reich will get a thrill out of it.
Kansas City Chiefs 24
Cincinnati Bungles 20
The Bengals can become AFC North champions for the first time since another underappreciated coach Marvin Lewis was there. They been feeling themselves lately so their playoff run should be interesting. Even if they continue the streak of winless playoff games.
New York Giants 17
Chicago Bears 10
In this nothing game, we have two coaches who should get the ax after the season. I don't see either team improving because all they will do is ruing their young talents at QB.
Atlanta Falcons 7
Buffalo Bills 27
The Falcon's season has been a disappointment but at least there was one bright spot on this team. Rookie TE Kyle Pitts has the chance to break Mike Ditka's record for receiving yards by a rookie TE. Yes, the 3 extra games benefits Pitts but a 1,000 yard season for a rookie is impressive, especially on a bat team. I don't see him getting the necessary yardage against the #1 defense but be should have over 1,076 yards after the Saints game. RIP Dan Reeves
Houston Texans 17
San Francisco 49ers 13
No new Deshaun Watson news so here's some Christmas photos from his girlfriend's IG.
Denver Broncos 3
Los Angeles Chargers 20
While Teddy B is still out with a concussion, I feel this is Drew Lock's last chance to prove that he is starter material. The Broncos could move on from Bridgewater for all I know so this would be the best time to see is Lock worth keeping or should they find someone else to start next year.
Carolina Panthers 34
New Orleans Saints 3
Sam Darnold will start this game while Cam Newton will be ready as well. I still can't believe how much of a mess this team is without CMC. What's more troubling is that he's injury prone so the Panthers really need to get their shit together for next season so they can survive games without him. Speaking of surviving games, the Saints went from one of the best teams in the NFC to a mess as well with Famous Jameis injury. For next season, I would keep Jameis Winston as starter, Taysom Hill as utility man and Ian Book as backup while letting Trevor Siemian walk. I know Ian had a rough outing but he could bounce back since he won't be down for long.
Detroit Lions 10
Seattle Seahawks 38
It's Russell Wilson's last home game as a Seahawk because I would be shocked he returns for another year. Reportedly he would waive his no trade clause for Denver, G-Men and Saints. Three teams that would see a improvement in QB play even though I like Jameis staying put. Russ had a nice run in Seattle but like with Brady vs Belichick, it's time for him to go.
Arizona Cardinals 33
Dallas Cowboys 3
Kyler Murray may think Arizona's late season struggles are overblown but apparently it's a running theme with Kliff Kingsbury's teams. Since 2013, Kliff falls off a cliff after strong starts to the season. That sounds like someone who can't adjust to late season injuries and it will get him bounced out of the playoffs in the wildcard round each time. If he makes it that far that is.
Minnesota Vikings 10
Green Bay Packers 28
While Aaron Rodgers is hinting retirement, the Packers need a punter. Just don't call Pat Mcafee, he has a new FanDuel deal and pulled his hammy getting off the couch. Also, the Vikings need a QB since Kirk Cousins is unavailable. Good thing they have a veteran backup who is 0-3 in his 7 year career! It's safe to say you can write them out of playoff contention.
Cleveland Browns 26
Pittsburgh Steelers 13
Ben Roethlisberger has pretty much said he's retiring so expect people to get sentimental for his final MNF game of his career. Let's see can Denzel Ward get a final pick off him.
LAST WEEK 7-9
