Well, that's a bummer. Stallions QB Alex McGough injured his shoulder on
his 1st play
against
the Panthers. Matt Corral stepped in and was...not great
going 18/29 for 198 yards, a TD and 2 INTs. McGough was
placed on IR
so they signed former Jet Andrew Peasley as their 3rd QB behind Case Cookus.
This might've been his last shot at being a NFL QB so I hate to see
this.
THE GAMES
Arlington Renegades 19
Birmingham Stallions 21
Despite the change at QB, this Stallion offense still looks sluggish.
Their defense basically carried the offense until they finally got in the
endzone in the 2nd half. I don't expect them to be world beaters for 4
straight seasons, but this offense has got to step it up if they want to
make the championship game. As for Arlington, they
performed
worse against Houston even though they did win the game. Birmingham should
win but it will be closer than I'm comfortable with.
Houston Gamblers 7
Memphis Showboats 15
This is a game between teams with decent defense and lackluster offense.
Houston's defense kept the game close but their offense didn't feel like
scoring until the game was almost over. On paper, Memphis didn't stand a
chance against DC but their
defense
kept them in it till the very end. I don't know if it's shit QBs, shit
offensive line or shit coaching but 2 of those reasons are most likely
true. I'll pick Memphis just because Houston are frauds but I don't fear
E.J. Perry.
San Antonio Brahmas 10
Michigan Panthers 18
That beatdown by the Battlehawks doesn't bode well for the Brahmas. Where was the
lockdown defense? Where was the opportunistic offense? I get St. Louis is
a strong team but San Antonio played like bums out there. Barring a QB
change, I don't see them making the playoffs.
DC Defenders 13
St. Louis Battlehawks 23
D.C. is doing good with their interim coach Shannon Harris. Do I
think they will beat the Battlehawks? Probably not. But this looks like a
preview of the XFL conference championship game. Of course, since the
Renegades are
2-0 as well, they could throw off those aspirations.
LAST WEEK: 4-0
OVERALL: 6-2
